Arts and Humanities Foundation

Arts and Humanities is a non-profit foundation comprised of three programs:
  •   The Umhoefer Prize for Achievement in Humanities
The primary expression of the foundation’s mission. The purpose of the Umhoefer Prize is to seek out, choose, and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the Humanities in books, films, discs, or other materials that are generally available to the thoughtful reader, viewer, and listener.
  •  Book Purchase Program
Provides prize books and other carefully selected materials as gifts to students in particular, and other interested readers in general, in schools, art centers, teacher groups, libraries, and in the thoughtful public.
  • Ticket Purchase Program
Offers opportunities at the Guthrie Theater and/or other cultural sites or events, to benefit students, particularly resident students at the Arts High School in nearby Golden Valley.

The Foundation includes in its idea of the Humanities: literature, drama, visual arts, music, history, performing arts, philosophy, photography, cinema, and the many arts and creative enterprises within these.
